Smalltown DJs “Erased the Night” on the MUCH Rotation!

Smalltown 2

This week Smalltown DJs new video, “Erased the Night” featuring Lisa Lobsinger was released and is being featured on the Much Music Rotation.

Director, Dan LeMoyne, describes his thoughts behind the video: The record has this great hypnotizing vibe, oozing with nostalgia. I wanted to create this nostalgic yet depressing suburban hellscape, inspired by old Americana and teen films. The 60s diner, the bowling date, the picket fence: the characters disrupt what these romantic scenes are supposed to look like. Reimagining a John Hughes world with a contemporary, alternative take on young love with a touch of retro-futuristic surrealism.

SCOTT HELMAN TRAVELS TO ‘THE LAST FREE PLACE IN AMERICA’ FOR ‘KINDA COMPLICATED’ VIDEO

Scott Helman and director Ben Knechtel took a journey to “the last free place in America” – Slab City – to film the new music video for “Kinda Complicated”

Ben shared with us some of the reasons this video is so special, “In many ways I’ve been chasing this video for over 10 years and it manifested perfectly with Scott Helman. We went into the desert with a rough wish list if shots, but it wasn’t until we fully embraced the beautiful chaos of Slab City that magic really started to happen. This video truly embodies my best work to date and I’m extremely thrilled and grateful for the experience. It truly reminds me why I picked up a camera in the first place.”

Just like Ruth B, ‘Superficial love’ is chalked full of spunk. Alison Honey Woods, the talented director, shared with us some of her inspiration for the video, “When I watched Ruth B’s original Vines I knew I wanted to make a video focused on her personality. We did Superficial Love as a beautiful one shot so that Ruth could really have fun with her performance without it being too polished.”

Love Again… on the MuchMusic Rotation!

Most modern pop culture references to robots illustrate them as innately evil, but what if they could be a companion?

“This concept can barely be seen as futuristic at this point as humans have already formed quite the relationship with technology and androids are just around the corner, I just tried to keep the story as grounded as possible. I’m a big fan of Keys N Krates so it was awesome putting visuals to one of their tracks.” – Director Nathan Boey

Toronto electronic outfit Keys N Krates present their official music video for their beautiful single “Love Again (feat. Ouici)” from their Midnite Mass EP.

Directed by Nathan Boey and produced by The Field Inc.

Tegan & Sara Channel ‘Miami Vice’ With Help From The Field Inc. Director, Nathan Boey

If you’re dying to know how the idea for the puppet-filled, Nathan Boey-directed video came to life, Tegan Quin tells Billboard: “A few months ago I was watching a TV show about the ’80s, and a scene from Miami Vice with Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas came on. They were talking specifically about the episode in which they used the entire Phil Collins song ‘In the Air Tonight,’ almost as if it were a music video.”

She continues to recall, “I remember thinking how cool it would be to have Sara and I remake the famous scene. Sadly, neither of us can drive, nor did we have the time or funds to reshoot that famous scene in Miami. Instead we tapped director Nathan Boey in Vancouver to reshoot it using puppets! I think it might even be better with us as puppets than if we had been in it ourselves.”….

“They shared with me their childhood passion for Miami Vice and the rest sort of wrote itself!” director Boey says. “Eleni Creative’s dolls were beautifully custom-built, and the idea of them ripping around the city in a mini Lamborghini had me giggling throughout production.”
