Major congratulations going out to The Field’s Director Stephano Barberis this week, who won BIG at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards on September 8th. Stephano was awarded the prestigious Music Video Director of The Year at the CCMA’s, for a staggering SIXTH time.
Not only has Stephano won this award 6 times in the past 7 years for his amazing country music video work, but this year’s awards brings his total award wins as Director to TWENTY-FIVE statues overall! This a fantastic accomplishment, and is a Canadian record for the number of CCMA Award Director of the Year wins for one individual. Overall, he has been nominated an astounding 58 awards during his career so far.
To say this recognition is well-deserved is an understatement. Over the past decade, Stephano has directed 123 music videos, 54 of which have entered the Top 20, including over a dozen that have peaked at #1 both nationally and internationally. It is commonplace to see all Top 5 music videos on CMT.ca be Stephano directed pieces.
Mr.Barberis does more than just country music videos – he is consistently working with artists to create videos in all genres of music, while his own electronic music project “Breathe of My Leaves” is set to debut internationally in October.
Says Stephano of this year’s win, “This surprising, consecutive recognition just makes me so thankful and brings tears to my eyes. My main goal is that I remain unique and make the best videos possible for all who come to me. If the artists don’t look good, I don’t look good.”
